The new year saw the relocation of 53 employees of the GW group’s most Western branch to the newly built logistics terminal in Pratteln. As of 5 January all traffic is managed via the new terminal comprising of more than 3,700 sqm. Branch manager Cuno Mattioli and his team have additional logistics space of almost 2,000 sqm available to them ”with scheduled further possibilities for expansion at a later stage”, stated the branch manager. Through the GW site relocation from Uferstraße in Basel to the easy accessible Pratteln, the branch has grown significantly: There are three times more loading ramps available and additional experts for air- and sea-freight complement the team at the new site.
Regional strength
”Our investment in Pratteln once again emphasizes the important position of the Region West”, says Roland Gander, regional manager for the Region West and country manager for Switzerland. GW has own branches from Central to Eastern Europe, from Basel to Bucharest. ”The current economic development is also challenging for us in Basel . Nevertheless, I am convinced that we and our excellent team on site will continue to offer outstanding quality services, which is the perfect start for positive development even in difficult times”, said the regional manager. ”The new building has more capacity both at general cargo and partial and full loads. Additionally, the take over of Descatrans provides new opportunities for the expansion of combined transport between Switzerland-Germany-Scandinavia. MSV gives us the further possibility to offer our customers additional services in customs clearing ”, Gander explains regarding the opportunities on the site.
